One Giant Leap for Humankind

Edition: 12

Made from: Bronze

This bronze piece is a scale replica of a life-size stainless steel sculpture that was part of the commonwealth games and exhibited on Birmingham New Street stations Eastern Plaza. The piece is designed around T64 athlete Ben Pearson who's story, tenacity and drive brought life to the piece. The intention of the piece is for the viewer to initially just see the figure, to be able to put themselves into the place of the athlete but only on closer inspection are they to notice the blade powering this explosive movement. It is believed to be the only sculpture celebrating excellence regardless of physical disability.
